anthropology of the genre
Hello everyone, today I want to
talk about my favorite subject.
This semester my favorite subject was anthropology of the genre. This
class was every Monday since 10:15 AM until 13:30 AM. The class was divided in
themes like: violence, history of feminism, gender concept. In classes we
analyses the social structure of the genre, which imposes roles and category to
the bodies based on the division masculine/feminine. Also we discuss about the
historical demands of feminist movement in the first world and Latin
America. I really like the class because the teacher is very passionate
and critical. Also the methodology of the class is very free; a first
evaluation was to present a cultural objet. I and my group present the red
rose, because it is a object that condense many sense about women and romantic
love.
In the violence section, we discuss about the current
contexts of aggression and death that women experience in Latin American
countries. Also, we saw a documentary called "Santas
Putas", which talks about the case of Alto Hospicio. I recommend it a
lot.
I really like this class because opens the space to reflect from
anthropology the meanings and categories, rescues how the personal is political
and questions how the sex-gender system has conditioned our bodies.
Great! In the last year i take this subject and i learned very much of feminism, intersecting with other topics such the migration or education. Also the teacher Carolina Franch know much
